Once again we were lucky enough to be invited to the FA’s special reception at Wembley Stadium where we got to meet some familiar faces and we had a great time listening to both the FA chairman and the other panellists.

FA Chairman Greg Clarke hosted 150 guests from the LGBT+ sports community including the likes of Stonewall FC chair Alex Baker, Pride in Football chair Stephanie Fuller and Kick It Out chair Sanjay Bhandari and CEO Roisin Wood.

He spoke about how he is prioritising inclusion during his time at the FA, the reception consisted of an opening address by Greg Clarke, followed by a panel chaired by Lou Englefield, the campaign director for Football v Homophobia. Her guests were Roya Mehdizadeh-Valoujerdy (vice-chair, FA Youth Council), Beatrice Thirkettle (chair, Football v Homophobia Youth Panel), James Baker (Stonewall FC) and Tim Sigsworth (CEO, Albert Kennedy Trust).

I have prioritised inclusion during my time as chairman and events like this, and campaigns like Rainbow Laces or Pride, allow me and The FA to find out first-hand, from the sharp end, what challenges people in the LGBT+ community face.
